Disarming, The Whisper of the Wind near Pately Bridge! (Yorkshire) reflections in and by the river September 2011, completed

Twixt trees, the watery avens go streaming the tethered fronds,
And trunks like ebony pillars cloisonn’ round a liquid sun,
A watery silhouette on the inverted depths beyond
Their recessed banks in their darksome flanks sunk till their tones are dun;
In the wanderings of the water a faintly passage streams
Through the habitats of darkness where the eye of the otter gleams;

Lull whisperer and hushshsh…

Then strikes that tangential breeze! and all things go screaming,
Starburst and sieved through the leaves:
Pavette in silver the squall,
All foils bourn aloft in the rhythm and fall…
A lull-a-by-breath a-rocking and a-feigning as if asleep;
Then her next gust rests, and to a silent whisper keeps…

Lull, whisssp of a breeze through the lowly and tall,
‘twixt these trees where watery avens still stream to their tethered swoon,
Disarming! the whispering wind near Pately Bridge!
And trunks as ebony pillars cloisonn round a liquid moon:

The poem above was made from direct observation (excluding the reference to otters) near Pately Bridge
whilst walking along the river banks with Rosalyn and our dear friends, Julian and Pam Sharp.

Begun in September 2011, modified 2011, completed 2016.
