A photograph is a wonderful representation of what the eye sees, but, unlike our live-viewing, the photograph provides us with the opportunity to linger in that one-moment in time alone so we can take in the structural patterns of a scape captured on the light sensitive film. On going to investigate a landscape I use my camera as a tool of discovery, to understand some of the components of landscape such as, substrata, the ebb and flow of foliage and water, growth forms and the nuances of shades, shadows and lights.
