PROSE: ' A Paintbrush is a Beautiful Instrument'

‘The spectrum of marks of which a brush is capable, from liquidity to dusty dryness, likens it to a musician’s bow in the creation of sound. Their's is a vast dynamic range: fortissimo to inaudibility; with the beautiful material of paint there is an amplitude from the blastings of coloured liquid-textures, to the ultimate diminuendos of faint dry haze: the point of imperception.'

'For all this range, the paint is nothing, except for the instrument that holds it; and the instrument is nothing but for the hand that controls it; and the hand is nothing but for the vision that works it; and the vision is vain but for the Creator who gave it.'
