Make Haste! Make Haste!

Make haste!

Make haste! Make haste! Make haste ‘tis Spring
Say throngings in the rushes,
Upon the very highest crowns
Come eulogies from thrushes;

By riverbank and camberland
Right throughout the nation
In every nook and cranny crammed
There’s vernal adulation!

Still the holly bears the berry
Where burgeoned boughs of lilac scent
This is the season to be merry!
Far, far the winter’s discontent;

Every stem is upward turning
Fanning out their leafy hands,
Generous boughs will soon be wearing
New sartorial summer’s brands!
